Now I am almost gratuade with bachelor degree in Business Administration. My major is International Hotel and Tourism Management. I would like you to know a little bit about the university that I am attending which is Siam University, Bangkok, Thailand.
Siam University has a lot of faculties like other universities but mostly are Thai program. There is one degree program which is International program. Bachelor of Business Administration. It has two majors. First one is International Business Administration and another one is International Hotel and Tourism Management.
University is really sucks! Why? Where is it? How big is the University campus? What are the University facilities? What are the opportunities for the students? Who are the lecturers?
Let me tell you one by one to those questions. Firstly, Siam University is out of the capital city Bangkok which is 20 minutes from the city centre if there is no traffic jams. The township name is Bangkae. You can go there by both bus or taxi but there will be BTS train station soon but we don't know when it will be finished. The campus size is less than medium size. If I have to compare to my high school campus, TTC (Practising High School, Yangon Institute of Education), Siam University is too small. Next, the facilities. Well, I don't want to talk about the facilites from Siam University. I will focus only on my major department. Firsty, the International Hotel and Tourism Management office. The size of the office is just like the size of the King size bed room in 5 Star hotel. Whatever! The computers provided for the students are avalible but it is 3 out of 50 computers. Other around 47 computers are for shows I think. International Hotel and Tourism Management department own one restaurant which is Sky Lounge. I don't want to say about that because if I say, noone will be going to that restaurant. But let me say as a warning for the prople who oftenly or potentialy going to that restaurant. h. Yak! What? Cockroach? It is really disgusting. You can find out more cockroachs in the Sky Lounge kitchen and the main restaurant. Let's jump into another question which is "what are the opportunities for the students?". It is very simple. The answer is "NO". They do not provide any opportunities. Although they provide, don't accept it. It is because there was one opportunity to do an internship in France 4 stars hotel. So, our program director selected 8 students to do the internship there. The problem is the hotel asked the students to intern more than 8 hours per day with 6 days in a week negeleting the law for the internship students. Therefore, students complaint about it. Students called the department to tell their situation but the noone care them. So, at last they came back without fully finished their internship. Nice for them. Let me answer the last question about the lecturers. Well, some of the lecturers are really good but some are really don't know anything what they are teaching. Mostly, Thai nationalily lecturers are better then Western lecturers. Although there were some better Western Lecturers were existed but now they are gone because of somebody in the department. The are some lecturers who don't know what they are teaching and grading the students randomly. It's better for the students' grade but it's worst for the knowledge of the students. I think it is enough to talk about my University. Oh! I forgot one thing. There isn't football field in the university campus which make me unsatisfied.
